The Celli Group acquired Angram Limited, a company with over 40 years of experience in cask ale beer engines, a team of more than fifty, a 33,000 sq. ft. sales, manufacturing warehousing and distribution facility in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and a client base that includes some of the UK’s finest names in brewing and retail pub companies. In addition to strengthening the Group’s footprint in the UK, this acquisition provides a new opportunity to grow and expand the global product range.
As part of the Celli Group, the company now has an opportunity to grow more rapidly, and bring its unique brand of product customisation and bespoke design to clients and markets worldwide.
At home, Angram is renowned for its cask ale beer engines. They dominate the UK market, accounting for around 75 per cent of installations, and can also be found throughout Europe, Canada and North America – wherever that quintessentially British cask ale experience is required.
“Right now there’s a tremendous amount of interest in the British beer market,” says Nigel Farrar, managing director of Angram. In the UK alone, we now have more breweries, more brands and more styles of beer and ale, and the on-trade is alive with more choice and more quality. Craft beer bars are opening everywhere, offering a new range of beer styles in both cask and keg format to a whole new generation of consumers. What’s equally exciting is that this taste for craft and cask continues to grow outside of the UK too. Consumers everywhere are demanding more quality and variety from the beers they drink, which can be seen in the increase in exports from the UK, as well as in the growth of craft brewers across the globe and the wide variety of beer styles they’re brewing.”
The company works with the likes of Greene King, Marstons, Mitchells & Butler, Fullers and Shepherd Neame, helping to give their brands a fresh and unique presence on the bar, and tell their stories with impact and clarity.
To this end the company has recruited and developed an experienced and talented design and development team to help bring each client’s vision to life. They manage projects from concepts to manufacture, and provide the attention to detail that ensures the vision for the brand is retained throughout.
Angram also offers CAD and prototyping in-house, and works exclusively with its dedicated and specialist casting partners to deliver high quality and precision engineered tools, shorter lead times and reduced development costs.
One key issue that contributed to this acquisition is sharing the environmental sustainability goals that drive the Celli Group.
Angram recognizes its responsibility towards good environmental practice and strives for continuous improvement in all it does. All waste materials including base metals, cardboard and plastic used in manufacture and packaging are recycled to the latest environmental practices and standards. A number of on-site initiatives were also implemented to reduce the carbon footprint, and the company works closely with suppliers and customers alike to minimise delivery road miles.
Now, as part of the Celli Group, Angram can broaden its resources, capacity and reach, accelerate its growth strategy, and continue to bring its great value to the Group.
